In February 2020, the Parkhaus Betriebsgesellschaft mbH starts the ticketless access for short-term parkers in the parking garage "Am Gericht" with the recognition of the license plate number. This means that our customers no longer need to worry about a parking ticket when entering and exiting, but drive in and out seamlessly.
Customers who have already had experience with number plate recognition are enthusiastic about the advantages and find it very convenient. Also, no parking ticket can be lost - the car is always with you. This means that there are no additional costs, as was previously the case with the loss of the parking ticket, since the license plate shows when the customer entered the parking garage and the exact parking rate can be calculated. Another positive effect is the saving of valuable resources, since there is no longer any need to process paper for the parking ticket.
Before entering the parking garage or the underground car park, customers are informed about the use of license plate recognition. It is then up to the customer whether they want to drive in or not. If they do this, the license plate is read by a special camera at the entrance and recorded in encrypted form in the system. The barrier opens automatically. Customers will only receive a ticket if e.g. the license plate cannot be read due to snow.
To pay, the customer simply enters their license plate number on the screen of the pay machine instead of a parking ticket. The applicable parking tariff and payment options are displayed. It can pay contactlessly, with the usual credit or debit cards or in cash. Further digital options are planned.
When the customers drive to the exit, their license plates are read in again, checked for payment and the barrier opens. This completes the parking process and the license plate-related data is deleted from the system.
In parking lots and underground car parks without tickets, registration of the license plate is required in accordance with Article 6 (1) lit. b GDPR required to fulfill a contract. We also process the license plate based on our legitimate interest in accordance with Art 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR as well as § 4 BDSG to protect the house right and to preserve evidence.
The data of your license plate is automatically encoded according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) when it is captured. Automatically collected data is processed after fulfillment of the mutual contractual obligations, i.e. normally deleted immediately when leaving the parking garage or underground car park. To comply with the GDPR, we are subject to the supervision of the data protection authority of the State of Hesse.
